SCENTS OF SYRIA:

FROM ALEPPO & DAMASCUS TO YOUR HOME

The Scents of Syria product line empowers Ghar, a small business run by Syrian artisan women working to support their families. Every product is hand-made and embroidered by 30 internally displaced women currently residing in Damascus. They lost homes and family members but remain determined to restore traces of the dignified lives they once had.

Support this initiative by bringing a precious Scent of Syria into your home.

Urban farm

Aleppo, Syria

Located in the heart of Aleppo, our Urban Farm provides a sustainable source of protein to Syrian families in addition to providing jobs for the Syrians who run the daily operations. The Urban Farm opened in October, 2014 and distributes fresh eggs, chicken, and lamb to 40 families a month. The Urban Farm currently is self-sustainable and serves the direct community that works at the farm. Our goal is to expand the farm to serve more families in the Ansari community by providing more food and more jobs.

Vegetable Garden

southern damascus

Our Vegetable Garden Project is a sustainable initiative that provides various communities within Yalda and Yarmouk Camp a source of food. The project was initiated by Abdullah al-Khatib, a Syrian-Palestinian activist living in Yarmouk Camp, who witnessed the devastating sieges on the community first-hand. During the height of the sieges, the communities had no access to medicine, food, and basic necessities and the manufactured famine resulted in the death of close to 200 people. Even today, the communities struggle with limited access to basic resources. This project aims to alleviate the suffering of close to 4,000 families that live in Yalda and Yarmouk. To support the project, Karam has hired a team of staff on the ground who oversee the project and maintain the garden.
