Brothers of the Gun: A Memoir of the Syrian War

Brothers of the Gun: A Memoir of the Syrian War

We are thrilled to add Brothers of the Gun to our Karam bookstore! Brothers of the Gun is an intimate lens on the century’s bloodiest conflict and a profound meditation on kinship, home, and freedom. Illustrated with more than eighty ink drawings by Molly Crabapple that bring to life the beauty and chaos, Brothers of the Gun offers a ground-level reflection on the Syrian revolution—and how it bled into international catastrophe and global war. Molly Crabapple is a dear friend of Karam and has volunteered her time to travel with our team multiple times to Reyhanli, where she has painted murals to brighten the walls of schools attended by Syrian refugee kids. She recently visited Karam House: Reyhanli where she painted murals of innovators and leaders to inspire the young minds that enter the space.

“A revelatory and necessary read on one of the most destructive wars of our time . . . In great personal detail, Marwan Hisham and Molly Crabapple poignantly capture the tumultuous life in Syria before, after, and during the war—from inside one young man’s consciousness.”—Angela Davis

These books were sold to Karam at a discounted price. Proceeds from sales will benefit our programs to support Syrians in need.
