Today, the Supreme Court decided to uphold the Trump administration's executive order that restricts entry to the US from Iran, Yemen, Syria, Somalia, Libya, North Korea, and Venezuela. This news comes days after photos of children separated from their parents at the border go viral.
There are so many parallels to be drawn between the experiences of Syrians and others in search of a better life, a new home – away from the bombs, clear of rubble, a place where their children can go to school, where they can live in freedom and dignity.
We are disappointed, shocked, and deeply saddened to learn, again, that the America that once opened its doors to members of our own team and our own families is no longer.
The American Dream has become so unattainable that people are not even trying anymore. Those that have are either turned away or detained.
Today, we stand in solidarity with all peoples in search of more – we too want more. More compassion, more humanity – because WE DO CARE, AND YOU SHOULD TOO.
